Podiatrists are highly skilled health professionals who have been trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs.
Royal College of Podiatry
Royal College of Podiatry is the professional body and trade union for registered podiatrists. Membership is restricted to those qualified for registration and the society represents around 10,000 private practitioners, NHS podiatrists and students.
The college monitors standards of undergraduate education and provides opportunities for continuing professional development through its four faculties which are: the Faculty of Undergraduate Education, the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine, the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery and the Faculty of Clinical Administration and Development.
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) was set up to protect the public. It is a regulating body, and keeps a register of health professionals who meet their standards for training, professional skills, behaviour and health.
